Every week someone asks us where they should take their engagement photos in New York. The honest answer: not from a top-100 list. These are the locations we actually shoot at, over and over, because they work — for the light, for the walkability, and for photos that still look like you. Every image below is from a real Alex Knight Studio session.

Before you pick a spot, read what to know about your session and what to wear — they answer most of the questions couples ask us.

Central Park

The one that earns the cliché. Within a thirty-minute walk you get Bethesda Terrace and its arcade, Bow Bridge, the Mall, and quiet rock outcroppings where it feels like the city disappears. We usually start early — the terrace at 7 a.m. is empty, golden, and entirely yours. If you want gardens specifically, see our full Central Park engagement guide.

DUMBO & Brooklyn Bridge Park

Cobblestones, the Manhattan Bridge framed down Washington Street, Jane's Carousel glowing in its glass box, and the skyline across the water. DUMBO gives you five different backdrops in three blocks, and sunset over Lower Manhattan from the boardwalk is as good as NYC light gets.

The High Line

An elevated park threaded through the West Side — wild plantings, steel, and glimpses of the Hudson between buildings. It photographs best on weekday mornings before the crowds arrive, and it pairs perfectly with a second stop in the Village or Chelsea.

The West Village

Tree-lined streets, brownstone stoops, and café corners — the most relaxed session we shoot. This is the location for couples who want their photos to feel like a Sunday walk in their own neighborhood rather than a production.

Tribeca

Cobblestone streets, cast-iron facades, and an industrial elegance that suits a dressed-up session. Tribeca is quieter than SoHo on weekends, and the light bouncing between the loft buildings is soft nearly all day.

More Locations We Love

This guide grows as we shoot — more of our favorite locations are coming. If you have somewhere in mind that isn't listed, ask — chances are we've shot there or scouted it.
